On-the-job learningLink: http://www.nsdc.org/library/publications/jsd/wood203.cfm Professional learning can occur in many venues not usually thought of as professional development opportunities. This article details workplace activities that promote job-embedded learning. These include formal staff development activities, such as study groups, action research, and reflective logs. But informal activities can foster professional learning as well, including school meetings, problem-solving groups, and planning for instruction. The authors describe how to �give meaning to experiential learning� and the implications of job-embedded learning for staff development planning.
